Set in 1987 Los Angeles, Drew and Sherrie are two young people chasing their dreams in the big city. When they meet, it's love at first sight, though their romance will face a series of challenges.
If you love High School Musical or Glee, you will love this movie. I personally am not a big fan of musicals. Seeing this movie was not my top choice but my movie buddy really wanted to see it so I agreed. The movie is set in 1987 so if you are a person who has many memories from that time frame, you will enjoy the music as it will bring back many memories and make the movie funnier. I did catch myself laughing at many parts of this movie. There were also many other people laughing out loud as well. I thought Catherine Zeta-Jones did an awesome job on her role as the psycho christen woman that wanted to end all rock and roll but I am still trying to figure out what was wrong with Tom Cruise’s neck. I think it must have been broken throughout the whole movie because he had it twisted sideways the whole time. It looked like something out of a zombie movie. I just kept waiting for him to start eating people.
I don’t really see how anyone in a generation born in the 90’s or sooner will really enjoy this movie. I would recommend renting it instead of spending the money on a theater ticket. It really is not children appropriate either as there is a lot of sex and sexual references. I would allow my older teens to see this movie if they wanted to, although I doubt they will want to see it.
