There's Nothing Like the Love of a Daddy

Author: Melissa Lahti

May 27, 2013

Nothing Can Compare to the love of a Daddy! One of the greatest things a little girl can have and should never have to go without is a daddy.  The love and bond between a father and daughter is indescribable.  One of the first things a little girl sees when she is born is her daddy.  She savors that special touch as those strong hands pick her up so gently.  Her first pleasure is the warmth and love as his loving arms wrap softly around her, and the sweet smell of him as her cheek snuggles softly against his chest.  She can feel the love in his lips as they gently press against her forehead.  Through all of this the love for her daddy begins to grow from day one.

As the hours go by and he experiences the first bath, the first diaper, the first bottle, and the first burp, the bond begins to grow stronger and stronger as the hours begin to turn into days.  He stares into those piercing brown eyes as she lovingly looks back at him.  His heart begins to melt as he notices the corners of her mouth turning upward for the first time, forming the most beautiful sight ever, her first smile.  Tears well up in his eyes as he smiles back a smile so grand he is hardly recognizable.

As the days grow into months he patiently waits by her crib at night watching her and listening as she breathes.  He is waiting for the slightest movement so he can have any excuse to pick her up and hold her close.  He loves everything about her, her smell, her touch.  He can’t wait to hold her.  At two a.m. as she wakes up hungry, he races mom to the crib for a quick chance to snuggle before he hands her off to be fed.  He sits and stares watching her every move, listening to her every sound.

Before he knows it, his heart is filled with so much joy as her lips so softly speak the words “da da”.  There is no greater sound ever to reach his ears.  She is by far the sweetest, cutest, most beautiful thing he has ever seen.

As the months turn into years the bond between this father and daughter has grown to be indestructible.  His heart jumps for joy as she so eagerly takes her first steps toward him, and almost breaks as she experiences her first fall.  At that moment the love grows even stronger as he scoops her up and her tiny arms wrap around his neck and the two of them exchange a silent “I love you”.

As the years pass too quickly he endures with much joy, the first day of school, the first bike ride, the first boo-boo to kiss, the first boy to chase off.  Yet she will never hesitate to wrap those tiny arms around his neck as they exchange another silent “I love you”.   For he will always be the first love in her life.  As he is there with his video camera for her graduation and there with his car to drive her off to college he will always be there.  He has tears in his eyes as the years have gone too quickly.  She is still by far the sweetest, cutest, most beautiful thing he has ever seen.

As he puts on his tuxedo he is going through all the emotions he can imagine.  He sees her, the most stunning, gorgeous, woman in her beautiful white gown.  He grabs her hand and pulls her closer and as they walk arm and arm down the aisle, he remembers all the kisses and hugs, tears and smiles, long talks, and long walks they have shared over the years.  They get to the end of the aisle and she can’t help but wrap those not so tiny arms around his neck and say: “Daddy, I love you. Thank you for being my best friend and the best daddy a girl can have.”
